Functional testing to support and guide your health – making the invisible… visible
Types of testing available:
Vaginal swab
Blood tests
Saliva and urine
Gut (stool)
DNA (Cheek swab)
Gut (stool analysis)
Gut microbiome tests are widely available, but it is all about the right type of test because of the technology used, and the depth to which they get to (family > genus > species > strains)
The visibility into your gut health is vital for a variety of health goals; skin health, brain health, mild to severe digestive and intestinal issues, fertility, food intolerances, autoimmunity, reflux / impact of PPI use, and much more.
Saliva and Urine based testing
These tests can provide data on your sex hormones (inc. cycle mapping), nutritional deficiencies, toxin exposure, neurotransmitter status (brain health) and your stress resilience.
Some symptoms that this may help investigate include fatigue, PMS, Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS), irregular cycles, migraines, brain fog, cognitive decline, low libido, weight gain, fertility/erectile concerns, decreased muscle mass, and acne.
Nutrigenomics - DNA mapping (Cheek swab)
These tests can identify your Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) IDs / genotypes which can inform us on your food response, vitamin needs, how well you detoxify toxins, your metabolism and methylation capabilities.
For instance, genetic variants can alter the uptake and metabolism of nutrients or the interaction of enzymes and cofactors.
This is a great way to best inform yourself on areas of diet and lifestyle that you may need to pay extra attention to, in a personalised way. Protecting yourself ahead of time.
Vaginal swabs
Gain insights on chronic UTIs, bacterial vaginosis, reproductive system infections and yeast overgrowth.
Offering insights into dominant pathogens and antimicrobial resistance genes for informed treatment decisions (by taking the data to your GP) and complemented with diet and lifestyle recommendations to support you with long-term management and prevention.
Blood tests
You can do at-home finger-prick tests, private tests taken with a local phlebotomist or ask for a blood panel with your GP.
These can give you insight into your cardiovascular health, blood sugar regulation, kidney function, some micronutrients, liver function, thyroid function and inflammatory markers.
This is a great way to protect your health for the long term, by understanding how your current levels are faring, how your body works in the areas mentioned, and then integrate positive changes into your lifestyle starting now. Be proactive, if possible, do not wait until symptoms start to arise!
